LTJ Bukem
Cosmic, blissed-out beats at 160bpm? Deep drum&space? Hmmm... one name tends to spring to mind. A truly ground breaking DJ and inspirational musician, LTJ Bukem, took his jazz funk influences into the studio and came up with a style of drum&bass that sounded totally unique, evoking the blissed, mellow vision of Lalo Schifrin and Lonnie Liston Smith instead of the darker urban soundscapes and murderous growling basslines the genre is better known for

Dieselboy

The jungle scene has always been centered in Britain, leaving Americans to watch from afar, import the records, and spin occasionally (though rarely very well). Damian Higgins reversed the trends a little bit with his nation-trotting gigs and frequent mix albums released as Dieselboy. Born in Pennsylvania, Higgins began DJing during the early '90s and organized house parties in and around Philadelphia. By 1993, the sound of jungle had begun pumping up America as well as Britain, and Dieselboy made the switch to drum'n'bass

Grooverider
Ask anyone in drum'n'bass what first inspired them to make music and Grooverider's name is sure to crop up. Not only has he notched up an incredible twelve years behind the decks, DJing everywhere from dingy illegal warehouse parties to huge outdoor festivals, but his legendary radio shows with longtime companion Fabio (first for Kiss FM and now Radio One FM) helped spread the gospel of drum'n'bass further and further afield. As resident at seminal London night Rage throughout its four year stint at Heaven, he personally oversaw dance music's evolution from acid house to techno and finally drum'n'bass.

High Contrast
Signed only a year ago to Hospital Records without ever having released any material prior, Lincoln has catapulted himself to the very forefront of the D&B spotlight. After a series of successful singles on his label home of Hospital, he is preparing to release his debut full-length album entitled True Colors (Hospital / Breakbeat Science), taking full advantage of the returning focus on the mainstream potential of D&B, which he himself has helped to revive.
